Tonight
A Heat Advisory remains in effect tonight for portions of northwest Georgia until 8 PM EDT Friday. Overnight temperatures will remain elevated only falling to the mid 70s by the early morning hours. Those without adequate cooling will struggle to recover from the heat of the day before temperatures rapidly increase again tomorrow. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Friday through Wednesday
Afternoon thunderstorm chances will gradually increase across the area through the weekend. A few of these could be strong, capable of gusty winds of 40-50 mph, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Heat index values will exceed 100 degrees for much of the area Friday through Sunday and may reach hazardous levels for some. A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of northwest Georgia until 8 PM EDT Friday for heat index values as high as 105 degrees.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
