Munson Island Weather Advisories
.NOW
Through 3 PM, numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms will move generally northward at near 15 knots through the near and offshore waters surrounding the Florida Keys. The greatest concentration of showers and thunderstorms will be from the waters offshore the Marathon Humps through just offshore Molasses Reef, continuing northward over the Middle and Upper Keys, and also in the western Straits and Southeast Gulf waters southwest through northwest of Halfmoon Shoal Light, including Dry Tortugas National Park. The stronger storms will produce wind gusts near 30 knots, frequent lightning strikes, and blinding downpours. Portions of the keys, including the Marathon, Key Colony Beach, Tavernier and Key Largo could receive up to an inch and a half of additional rainfall through 3 PM.
COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT
WHAT
The next round of high tides will reach near 1.5 to 2 feet above mean higher high water, especially in the Upper Keys. Additional rounds of heavy rainfall will increase the footprint of saltwater flooding. WHERE
Florida Keys. WHEN
Through Tuesday morning. IMPACTS
Saltwater flooding of low elevation streets and lots is expected. Some storm drains will overflow, and some seawalls and docks will be overtopped. Boaters can expect less clearance under fixed bridges. Motorists should remember that persistent puddles around the times of high tide are almost certain to contain a mix of saltwater.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. &&
