Through 8 pm, scattered showers and thunderstorms will move generally to the west-southwest at near 15 knots across the nearshore and offshore waters surrounding the island chain. Stronger activity is moving through the extreme Southeast Gulf waters and approaching portions of the Lower Keys. Here, storms may produce wind gusts of 25 to 30 knots, blinding downpours, and bouts of frequent lightning strikes. Island communities between Stock Island and Sugarloaf Key may receive a quick quarter to a half of an inch of rainfall.
