This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central
east central
south central and southeast Colorado.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight Snow will spread across the mountains and spill into the southeast plains during the morning hours with snow levels dropping to as low as 4500 feet. Snowfall could become heavy a times this afternoon in and near the mountains as embedded thunderstorms develop. Snowfall amounts across the mountains will range from 5 to 12 inches though locally higher amounts could occur on the east facing slopes of the Wets, and northern Sangre De Cristos. The upper Arkansas River valley, Wet mountain valley and Palmer divide will see between 4 and 7 inches with locally higher amounts near the mountains. Between 1 and 3 inches of snow will be possible across portions of the I-25 corridor and central and northern San Luis Valley. Locations below 4500 feet will see mostly rain across the plains with little to no precipitation expected across the far eastern plains. The heavier snow should taper off after midnight though some lingering light snow may continue until dawn across the southern mountains and interior valleys.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Saturday through Thursday Isolated snow showers will be possible Saturday across the mountains though any accumulations will be spotty and light with amounts under an inch. Dry weather returns for Sunday through next week with winds becoming gusty at times. This may bring a return of critical fire weather conditions to portions of southern I-25 corridor, southeast plains and San Luis Valley Monday through Thursday.
