This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central
east central
south central and southeast Colorado.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected along the Continental Divide and Sangre de Cristo Mountains today, with the potential for stronger thunderstorm development across the eastern San Juan Mountains this afternoon into the early evening. The main risk from storms will be cloud to ground lightning, wind gusts to 45 mph and periods of moderate rainfall, but stronger storms will be capable of producing gusts to 50 mph, small hail and periods of moderate to heavy rainfall.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN
Monday through Saturday A Pacific storm system will bring unsettled weather and some cooling to the higher terrain, and especially to the Continental Divide, Monday and Tuesday, then spread to the Pikes Peak region on Wednesday as this system pushes across the Rocky Mountain region. Light snow amounts are forecast for the mountain peaks Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to remain well above normal through Tuesday, then cooling is forecast for Wednesday into the weekend. The first freeze for the high valleys is forecast for Wednesday night.
