This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of central
east central
south central and southeast Colorado.
DAY ONE
Today and Tonight Periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will remain possible through about midday today. Rain will last the longest over the SE mountains, as well as the plains along and south of Highway 50. Flash flooding will remain possible, especially over burn scars and other vulnerable areas. Gusty north winds will also be possible over the eastern plains into the mid-morning hours, gusting 20 to 40 mph. Several inches of snow can also be expected over the higher peaks of the mountains generally above 11,000 feet. With the expected heavy rainfall, people should stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, especially those in flood prone areas. A few isolated thunderstorms will also be possible this afternoon over the far southeast plains, producing heavy rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds to 45 mph.
