BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING
WHAT
Minor coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents expected due to the combination of high tides and elevated surf. WHERE
San Diego and Orange County Coastal Areas. WHEN
From Tuesday afternoon through Friday evening. IMPACTS
There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. Moderate flooding of sea water is possibly over some vulnerable low-lying coastal areas. Moderate beach erosion is possible to likely. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Elevated surf of 3-6 feet on south and southwest-beaches. High tides are expected to peak between 6.5 and 7.0 feet during the morning and evenings. There is a moderate chance that an upgrade to Coastal Flood Advisory and/or High Surf Advisory will be needed. These products will likely need to be extended into the weekend.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks. &&
EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THURSDAY
WHAT
Dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures ranging from the mid 80s to mid 90s at the beaches to the mid 90s to low 100s for the mesas. Nights will be very warm with low temperatures mostly in the 70s. WHERE
San Diego County Coastal Areas. WHEN

Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. &&
