HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO 10 PM PDT SUNDAY
WHAT

Localized damage is possible in most vulnerable low-lying areas. For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 5 to 8 feet with dangerous rip currents is expected on Sunday. WHERE
Ventura County Beaches. WHEN
For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 2 PM PDT Tuesday. For the High Surf Advisory, from 6 AM to 10 PM PDT Sunday. IMPACTS
Sea-water flooding of beach and harbor roads, parking lots, and walkways is likely, especially around the time of high tide. Isolated damage is possible during the Sunday morning high tide which is expected to peak around 8 feet. The most vulnerable locations to coastal flooding will be low-lying areas from Ventura to LA county line. Localized pockets of Highway 1 between Point Mugu and LA county line could see significant surf spray and some sea-water on the roadway. Significant beach erosion is expected. There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
High tides approaching 8 feet will be likely on Sunday morning (nearly 2 feet above astronomical high tide of 6.1 feet), returning to around 7.5 feet for Monday and Tuesday mornings. Large secondary high tides are also expected each evening.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Do NOT drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks. &&
