Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves due to elevated surf. WHERE
Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. WHEN
Until 8 PM PDT this evening. IMPACTS
There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore. ADDITIONAL DETAILS
Many, strong rip currents are reported from south facing beaches. Use extra caution and swim near a lifeguard.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly in such conditions, stay off the rocks. &&

WHAT
Very warm daytime conditions with high temperatures between 95 and 105 common, except 80 and 90 common at the coast. Warm overnight conditions will bring less relief than usual. WHERE
Los Angeles County Beaches, Ventura County Coast, Santa Barbara County South Coast, Santa Lucia Mountains, Santa Ynez Valley, and the Northern Ventura County Mountains. WHEN

There is a high risk for heat illness for sensitive groups like the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning, and those active outdoors.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion. &&
