Afternoon heat index values up to 109 degrees will persist for most of eastern Oklahoma and also west central Arkansas through about sunset. Low storm chances will continue for mainly far eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas through this afternoon. A gusty to locally strong wind threat is possible with any storm. Dangerous heat along with fire weather danger remain the main story through the second half of the workweek. Low storm chances again are forecast to develop with max heating Thursday afternoon, generally for far eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. A cold front is then expected to move into eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas late weekend and early next week which could bring some cooler temperatures, along with increasing shower and storm chances. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information.
