This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as much of Eastern Oklahoma.

Dangerous heat conditions continue, with afternoon heat index values from 110 to 115 degrees in much of northeast Oklahoma and the Interstate 40 corridor and 105 to 110 degrees in the remainder of the area. Conditions will begin to slowly improve this evening, though little heat relief is expected overnight with lows only in the upper 70s to lower 80s in most spots. Ongoing dangerous heat and heat stress potential persist into Sunday while a weak front sags southward into the region. Moisture pooling along this boundary will help to create heat index values of 105 to 115 degrees again Sunday afternoon. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop with the front late afternoon Sunday and remain possible into Monday afternoon. Localized strong downburst winds will be the main threat with the stronger storms, likely across northeast Oklahoma and into northwest Arkansas. The front will bring a minor cooldown to areas north of Interstate 40 Monday, although heat stress conditions will persist across the southern half of the area. Any break in the heat will be short- lived with very hot conditions returning areawide Tuesday. Low storm chances return during the second half of next week as upper level high pressure retreats westward.
