Hot conditions are expected for southeast Oklahoma this afternoon. A few isolated showers and storms are possible anywhere, but the best chance this afternoon will be near and south of I-40. Then tonight the highest chances will be in the higher terrain of northwest Arkansas. Any storms could produce brief heavy rain and gusty wind. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT

Dangerous heat is expected each day for the next week, but the hottest conditions are likely on Tuesday and Wednesday. Heat indices of 110-112 F are currently forecasted Tuesday and Wednesday. A few showers and thunderstorms may occur, particularly Wednesday into Thursday, as a weak cold front moves into the area. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside.
