SEVERE STORMS EXPECTED THIS EVENING AND OVERNIGHT
This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as much of Eastern Oklahoma.

Late Morning. DISCUSSION
A strong storm system will impact the area today into early Tuesday. Gusty south winds will develop today in advance of the system, with gusts from 30 to 40 miles an hour common late this morning through the afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may affect parts of northeast Oklahoma from late this morning through the afternoon. While most of these storms will be sub-severe, one or two of the storms may become severe, with damaging winds and possibly hail being the main severe weather threats through the afternoon. A line of storms is expected to organize to our west by late afternoon or early evening. This line of storms will then sweep east across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas later this evening and overnight. Some of the storms are likely to be severe, with damaging winds being the main threat. A limited tornado threat will also exist this evening into the overnight hours, especially across eastern Oklahoma. The tornado threat will likely diminish by late tonight as the storms move into a slightly more stable airmass across northwest Arkansas. Locally heavy rainfall may result in some localized flooding issues by later this evening and overnight, especially if multiple storms track across the same locations.
