At 127 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms extending from near Reece City to Cherokee Rock Village. Movement was south at 15 mph. HAZARD

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include
Gadsden, Attalla, Hokes Bluff, Glencoe, Sardis City, Leesburg, Reece City, Ballplay, Tabor Road, Slackland, Cherokee Rock Village, Gadsden Mall, Noccalula Falls, Western Weiss Lake, Gadsden Steam Plant, Howelton, Crudup, Mountainboro, Rockledge, and Keener. This includes the following highways
Interstate 59 between mile markers 182 and 198. US Highway 278 between mile markers 120 and 138, and between mile markers 141 and 144. US Highway 431 between mile markers 258 and 277.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
